First Visit

Welcome to Pearl Family Dentistry! Your first visit establishes a vital foundation for our relationship (we sincerely hope it's a long lasting one) with you. We are here to make everyone feel comfortable and well taken care of in our office.

During your initial appointment, Dr. Chen will take time to go over your dental history and listen to your concerns and expections. She will then check your teeth for decay and go through a thorough exam with the assistance of state-of-art dental technologies. She will thoroughly explain the diagnosis and treatments options if any is necessary. You are encouraged to ask questions and involve in the decision making.

Please arrive at our office 15 minutes before your appointment time to fill out the needed new patient paperwork (which we try to keep to a minimum). Following will help us greatly to expedite your paperwork:

• Recently taken X-rays if applicable
• A list of medications that your are currently taking
• Dental insurance card or information (such as an EOB statement)
• Download and complete the new patient form

Children

It is generally recommended that a child be seen by a dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after his or her first tooth comes in.

The first dental visit is usually short and involves very little treatment. This visit gives your child an opportunity to meet the dentist in a non-threatening and friendly way. During the exam, Dr. Chen will check all of your child's existing teeth for decay, examine your child's bite, and look for any potential problems with the gums, jaw, and oral tissues. If indicated, Dr. Chen or a hygienist will clean any teeth and assess the need for fluoride. She will also educate parents about oral healthcare basics for children and discuss dental developmental issues and answer any questions you may have.

* A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at all dental appointments.

Emergency Visit

We understand the urgency to be seen by a dentist when you are in tremendous pain from toothache, knocked-out tooth, broken tooth, bitten lip/tongue or any other dental emergency. Please call our 24-hour phone number (248) 250-9269. We will make every attempt to see you as soon as possible.
